"One of the ideas being mooted is that Victoria gets covered in a bucket of animal blood - cow or lizard - at her next UK public appearance.

"Another rather sick suggestion was to pelt crocodile feet at her when she goes to an editor's lunch in London next month. Victoria tries not to surround herself with bodyguards but her security has had to be increased."

Victoria's friends believe the star - who is designing the bags with accessories designer Katie Hillier- is a victim of her own success as her rising profile in the fashion world leaves her open to attacks from groups looking for maximum publicity.

Victoria Beckham is infuratied over reports that she is importing and abusing diet pills.

The source said: "PETA know she is high profile and that whatever stunt they pull will garner mass publicity. The fact her bags were so well received at her recent showcase in New York has simply given them more incentive."

Victoria's spokeswoman denied accusations of cruelty and said the British star ensured she adhered to all regulations.

She said: "As with all Victoria Beckham products, the handbags are made to the highest quality and design. These skins sit strictly within the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species regulations and are monitored at every step of production."

Paris recently vowed to curb her partying lifestyle and insists she now loves nothing more than quiet nights in with Cy and Shae.

She added: "We spend a couple of days every week in Las Vegas. We go back and forth to see her and when we are there it's completely different from when I used to go to Vegas.

"We cook dinner at home. We play with all the bunnies in the backyard. We do normal things like go to the movies, and relax and just get her ready for school.

"It's definitely a different pace but I'm really enjoying and loving it."

Florence Henderson got her best scores ever on last night's episode of Dancing With the Stars, but even a dance to the Brady Bunch theme song couldn't keep her in the running.

After learning she'd been voted off, Florence said: "I have been in TV for over 50 years, and I have to say in all honesty that this is one of the best-produced shows I've ever been on.

"I've loved this show since it began. I think it's just a tremendous show. I hope I've inspired people to get up off their behind and move and dance and live and enjoy life."

76-year-old Florence had surprised judges and viewers with the sexiness of her dancing with professional partner Corky Ballas on the show, but she exited with grace.

Elsewhere Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas were saved for another week, kept afloat by viewer votes. The shock of the program was the low score given to Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, who have dominated at the top of the leaderboard since the show started.
